Credit-card payment for Tango Society of Boston Workshops and Membership

The Tango Society of Boston is now accepting credit card payments (Visa or Master Card issued by a US bank) using the PayPal.com e-mail payment service. (Please note that currently this is the ONLY way in which we can accept credit-card payments, i.e., for advance payments through PayPal.com. We cannot accept credit card payments presented at the door or over the phone or in any other way.)

BONUS: Paypal.com offers a $5 one-time bonus to new users.

BENEFITS

There is no additional cost or service charge to you (nor to the Tango Society) for this service (according to PayPal.com, the amount is treated as a regular purchase by your credit card company, and not as a cash advance).

INSTRUCTIONS FOR REGISTERING AND PAYING FOR YOUR WORKSHOPS WITH A CREDIT CARD ON PAYPAL.COM

Please read the instructions below very carefully and follow them exactly (they may appear more complicated than they are only because they have been described in some detail).

[If you already have a PayPal.com account, go to Step (3).]

  1. Click on this button Make payments with PayPal - it's fast, free and secure! or go to www.paypal.com and read the description of the service carefully. Determine if it's right for you and if you are comfortable using it. (Many members have used this successfully since June 2000 with the only reported problems being the occasional minor one associated with confusion over PayPal's subscription instructions.)
  2. If so, get an account on PayPal.com following the instructions at the site. You will get an e-mail confirmation request for security purposes, and after you follow the instructions, you should be ready to send a payment within a few minutes.
  3. Decide what workshops you want to take and calculate the cost--it may be helpful to fill out a paper registration form as your worksheet. Don't forget to add the membership fee if you need to renew or if you are not a member.
  4. In the "Notes" section of your PayPal payment (see Step 5 below) enter unambiguously exactly which workshops you are taking, whether you are attending the Milonga, whether you are paying for membership, etc. If you aren't sure what information to include, then use the template below: In the text between the ===== lines below, type in the information requested directly after the >>> symbol (the easiest way is to copy and paste this text into the "Notes" section of your payment (see Step 5 below) and then type in the requested information). 6. Using the PayPal "Send Money" option, fill in the fields in the on-line form you will be presented, as follows:
  7. Pay To: info@bostontango.org
Amount: (Enter total amount for workshops, Milonga, membership.)
Recipient's Last Name: (LEAVE IT BLANK or use only the word "Society")
E-mail Subject: PAYPAL PAYMENT for (_______ workshop or Membership, etc.)
Note: (Copy the entire text of the appropriate lines in Step 4 Items A-S above into this text box)
  8. Then press the CONTINUE button in PayPal's "Send Money" window (make sure you are not exceeding your spending limit). You should get a confirmation window that shows the amount you are sending to info@bostontango.org. (It will also indicate that info@bostontango.org is a registered user--if it does not, make sure you have typed the e-mail address correctly.) Press the "SEND MONEY" button to confirm.
  9. Click on "View the Details of this Transaction." You may want to print this out and bring it with you to the workshop as backup proof of payment (we should have a record of the payment anyway).
  10. If you are sending payment for someone else or for multiple persons, you can send multiple registrations in one transaction if the information is otherwise identical for all persons (i.e., if you are all taking the same workshops). Make sure that it is clear in the "Name" "Amount" and "Comments" fields in Step 4 above exactly what the payment is for, and for whom. If in doubt, send separate transactions for each person registering.
